sitting in and posing for photos with the Huey. There was a moving POW/MIA ceremony.  We had a good turnout of CCN
members. L-R: Dave Anderson, Ed Morris, Greg Hutson, Ken Fritz, Al Doucette, Tom Inks, Ken Lake, Curt Knapp, and Jim

West Sacramento Veterans Day Parade - 11 NOV 2013

The parade started at Riverbank Elementary School on Carrie St. in West Sacramento at 1100. A circular route through
residential areas of the city was a vertical challenge.  Curt Knapp made a wire deflector to move low hanging wires out of
the way.  It worked well and we only snagged one wire!  We followed a 90 year old WWII Vet in his dress greens.  He
walked the 3 mile parade route! There was a  pretty good turnout for the parade.
Thanks to Curt Knapp, Ed Morris, Jim Stein, Gil Ferrey, Dave Anderson, Ken Lake, Jim Cunningham, and Al Doucette for
supporting this event.

to Curt, Al, Ken lake, and Dave Anderson.  The next day it was shown for the USMC Birthday at

newscast.  Thanks to Curt Knapp, Al Doucette, and Ed Morris for getting the Huey on the road at 0630!

"Help a Vet" Golf Scramble - 25 OCT 2013

The Huey was shown at this event at Lincoln Hills Golf Club, in Lincoln, CA.  There was small turnout.  The event staff was
very cordial and glad to have us there.  We can also say that everyone who did visit our Huey was impressed with the
aircraft almost all of us flew in Vietnam.  A large percentage said it was bigger than they had thought.  Near the end of the
event a Vietnamese golfer climbed out of the Huey and remarked that his father had gotten a ride in one!

Thanks to  Curt Knapp for organizing this and Al Doucette and Frank Kulhavy for their help.

"Corvettes for Vets" and Happy Birthday HUEY - 20 OCT 2013

The Bell UH-1 Iroquois (unofficially Huey) is a military helicopter powered by a single, turboshaft engine, with a two-bladed
main rotor and tail rotor. The helicopter was developed by Bell Helicopter to meet the United States Army's requirement for
a medical evacuation and utility helicopter in 1952, and first flew on 20 October 1956.

Today, the "Corvettes for Vets" display at the Red Hawk casino, near Placerville, CA was a success for all.   About 160
Corvettes showed up, and plenty of folks visited our Huey.  We parked outside the elevated parking structure.

Thanks to Kurt Knapp for pulling this together and to helpers Al Doucette, Dave Anderson, Ken Lake, Jim Clark, Frank
Kulhavy.
